At playtimes the children all play together. We find that this helps the Reception children to make friends with the older children and to become an integral part of their school. Staff are always supervising and running games, and a first-aid trained member of staff is available in case they are needed.
We have a wide variety of sports resources such as hoops, skipping ropes, balls, football goals etc and the children love being able to use these with their friends.
For children who find it difficult to find their friends we have a 'Friendship Stop'. This is a bench where the children can go if they need an older child to either play with them of help them to find their friends. We are very supportive of any child who finds playtimes difficult of worrying and we take our caring attitude wherever we go.
If the weather stops us from going outside (eg heavy rain) the children may have a DVD together in one of the classrooms. We will play outside if we have snow, so please feel free to send boots, and extra socks if you wish, just make sure they bring their school shoes in a named bag for when we are inside.
At lunchtimes we have a group of children come into school from the Juniors. They are called 'Play Buddies' and their role is to help our children learn new games and skills with the equipment. All of the children love having 'the big ones' come over to play and it helps them with getting used to the idea of eventually moving to the Junior School because they get to hear the Play Buddies telling stories about their learning.
