On Tuesday 15th May Mrs Wake, Mrs Gates and myself, Mrs Sturmey took our 'Gardening Club' to 'Patricks Patch' in Beaulieu.
When we arrived we were introduced to Rachel who was our instructor for the morning and taken to the large garden. Our first task was to see how many ladybirds we could find hidden as we explored the garden. We then had a herb walk and discovered many herbs. After that we had a tasting session with various salad leaves. Well done Grace for trying them all even though you didn't like any of them. Then we split into three groups. Each group had a turn at planting some bean seeds in drills, identifying which part of different plants are edible and making our own paper pots and planting cress seeds in them.
The weather was beautiful and all of the children and adults had a wonderful time.
As we were leaving a neighbour from behind the hedge came to congratulate our children on their wonderful behaviour, the warm and respectful way the children and adults spoke to each other and the excellent vocabulary used by the children. She was so impressed, quote'' it brought tears to my eyes'' that she felt she had to come and see us.
What wonderful ambassadors for our school!
Well done children and a big thank you to Rachel and her team.
